Looking for something new to play during independent work or assessments? Tired of the classical music? This site is full of great white noise sounds to be used in the classroom. Personally, I'm loving the coffee house background noise. :)
Fun brain break type of game. Goggle puts your down on a street somewhere in the world and you have to walk around in that area and see if you can figure out where in the world you are.
This is what the app looks like for GOOSE CHASE! This is an amazing scavenger hunt app for the masses. You put in all the things that need to be found (can include pictures, place on a map, or short answer) and it keeps a running leader board by points of who is winning. My thought is this would be great for back to school whether just with your students or with the whole school. Imagine having things like: snap a selfie with the principal for 500 points, snap a selfie with the kinetics teachers for 500 points, find three books in your new classrooms library and write down the titles for 1000 points ,write down if your new teachers has a pet for 500 points, geotag yourself in the cafeteria for 1000 points. What a great way to learn about your school! This is not completely free. If you just do your class it is but if you want to do many, many devices, there is a cost.
There is so much more to google classroom than just using docs! It turns your classroom into a blended learning environment! You can have students do worksheets or exit slips using forms and turn them in digitally. There is a classroom chat feature that students can use to talk with you. You can push out homework this way either to everyone or to students who are sick at home. Students can collaborate with other students on group projects and turn in digitally and so much more! Principals could even create a "classroom" of teachers as a more concise way to communicate with everyone throughout the week or to share handouts that teachers will have access to at any time.
Augmented reality is a digitally enhanced view of the real world. Turn any object, image, or place into an opportunity for AR. Watch everyday things come to life with graphics, animation, video, audio, and 3D content. Aurasma is changing the way we interact with the world, one Aura at a time.
Ideas here could be to add video to a regular yearbook. Have the front cover turn into a video of the principal thanking the students for a great year! The picture of the students playing recorders turns into a video of the kids playing recorders. Or use for a book report. The student can turn a picture on their book report into a video of them explaining what they learned in that portion of the book. And the idea in the video below: make animated vocab cards! So many cool ideas.

Wonderful speaker, Sir Ken Robinson, was also there. If you want to hear some of the things he has to say about education, search him on Ted Talks. Worth the listen!
